Did you know that Yakima Valley farmers produce about 75% of the nation’s hops —only coming in second in the world after Germany?

Over the past couple years, my artwork has conceptually and aesthetically focused on illustrating different perspectives of the labor conducted by Mexican migrant farmworkers—whose arduous labor and work supports the thriving agricultural industry of central Washington. This piece captures a Yakima Hop worker training the hop bines in the Yakima Valley.

The design was sketched and carved by hand, then printed with traditional oil based printmaking ink onto 100% cotton, acid free paper. Each print is titled, signed and labeled as an AP.

Each print is produced using a manual printing press, therefore, each print will be unique and may differ slightly from the pictured original. This is the beauty of relief block printing.
